Listening to God as He speaks through His Word

Welcome!
Though it isn’t fancy, I am starting this blog for one purpose: To encourage you as you dig into God’s word every day.
For the last four months those of you who attend Peace Church have had the opportunity to walk through the Gospels with us and write HEAR journals. In case you don’t know, a HEAR journal is just an easy way to hear from God as you read His Word. HEAR is actually an acrostic for:
H – Highlight: As you read God’s word, write down the verse or verses that stick out to you or the verses through which God speaks to your heart.
E – Explain: Examine those verses in the context of what comes before and goes after them, seeking to understand the purpose for and meaning of the text. Write that down.
A – Apply: From the explanation you have made, connect the message of the text to today’s world and specifically to your life.
R – Respond: Write down a specific action you can take based on what you have read.
(By the way, this idea is not something I came up with. Robby Gallaty with “Replicate” Ministries developed it as a way to encourage discipleship.)
So, other than that explanation, what is the purpose of this blog? Well, as a church we are encouraging our members to continue to read through the New Testament journaling daily on what they read. Each weekday, a different staff member will be adding their personal journal for that day so that you can get another perspective on the passage you read. There will be a link to this blog on our website. We plan to begin blogging on Monday, April 29.
I have heard from several of you about how your journaling through scripture has really blessed you. I pray that you will continue to grow as we HEAR from God together.
